Born In the Cloud

Born in the Cloud

In 2012, Dropsuite was born in the Cloud. Unlike the plethora of tape backup and hard drive vendors that sprung up way back in the 1980’s and 90’s, Dropsuite’s modern, efficiently-designed backup architecture was created from the ground up with Cloud services at its core. The Cloud is where we started from and where the company is going. The Cloud is us.

What is the Cloud? According to PCmag.com, the term “cloud computing” is everywhere. In the simplest terms, cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet instead of from your computer’s hard drive. The cloud is just a metaphor for the Internet.

Today Dropsuite is one of the fastest-growing Cloud based software platforms in the world, enabling SMEs to easily backup, recover and protect their digital assets. We do this through a network of reseller partners who have a combined reach of millions of SMEs worldwide.

Our reseller partners appreciate and depend on the quality of our products — and we take great pride in our software engineering team because without their efforts and the quality of their Cloud-friendly code, we would not have been able to achieve so much success in so little time.

We love hiring engineers who are self-motivated and have a willingness to explore, learn and experiment. But being self-motivated and curious is not enough. We look for engineers who are team players as well. Creating solid Cloud products are not always led by a single coder. More often, it takes a small team of motivated coders to put together winning Cloud solutions.

Scaling our Cloud offerings requires Dropsuite to look at the world a bit differently. The way our software engineers problem solve is by making decisions based on logic. Be it writing code for a new program or adding a new feature to an existing Cloud solution — or imagining where the future of Cloud applications will take us — we enjoy taking a methodical, yet speedy approach to problem-solving. Dropsuite’s work environment encourages and rewards engineers to resolve issues as quickly as possible, as long as quality is never sacrificed.

Dropsuite focuses on application-specific backup solutions, such as for websites, emails or servers. Our services are designed to be feature-rich and complexity free. We focus on how our end users can easily and seamlessly provision our services within the service provider partners’ ecosystem.

The Dropsuite product family includes website backup, server backup, email backup, email archiving, mobile backup and white label backup — all in the Cloud.

One of our products, DSE Server Backup, offers a continuous, incremental and file-based backup — replicating changes from production servers to our backup sites almost instantaneously without any disruptions, thus providing close to real time RPO (Recovery Point Objective) for instant Cloud data access. Using DSE Server Backup, RTO (Recovery Time Objective) is very short, since you can almost instantaneously restore the entire server or select file(s) with just one click. Cloud based technology enables our customers to access their backup from any device and from any location.

Our business/revenue model works as a typical Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) where our software is licensed on a monthly-subscription basis via the Cloud. We deliver our services via our partners, such as GoDaddy, the world’s largest domain name registrar, and Ingram Micro, the world’s largest technology distributor. Through these partners, Dropsuite can reach millions of SME customers around the world.
